Bulova N3 Automatic
A stylish watch from Bulova's glory days
Description:
This gorgeous Bulova automatic is a simple, clean, streamlined design with a clear blue face from Bulova's glory days in the early 1970s.
This automatic watch is from 1973 and features a streamlined, thin, lenticular shaped case and a wide, integrated bracelet. The thin, wide design, similar to the Omega Dynamic, makes it feel very light and comfortable on the wrist. The blue face and white markers make this a very easy watch to read.
The Bulova company was founded by Joseph Bulova in 1875 and was known for innovative yet affordable watches bringing space age technology to the common man. In the 1960s, the Bulova Accutron became the first electronic watch and was the first wristwatch with a timekeeping regulator other than a traditional balance wheel. The Bulova Accutron was issued to SR-71 pilots and was used in the instrument panel clocks on board Apollo 11.
Bulova was also known for sytle. In the 1970s, Bulova teamed up with Christian Dior to build an innovative line of designer watches with innovative designs with asymmetric cases and bright colors (more than a decade before Swatch). Bulova was known for a wide variety of styles.
The Bulova brand still exists to this day, although they were purchased by Citizen in 2008.
