Hamilton Ladies QED XV
Futuristic and dressy!
Description:
The Hamilton QED demonstrates why Hamilton was the leader in American watch design. This tiny little watch features a very rounded eyeball shaped case and crystal that tapers at the top and bottom to an elegant rope style metal bracelet.
LED watches for ladies didn't emerge until 1974 because of the challenge of making modules small enough for ladies' watches. This watch demonstrates a mastery of quartz technology with a tiny little module about the size of a dime! Despite the tiny size of this watch, it is highly functional with a large, bright, readable LED display capable of showing the day of the week using alphanumeric characters.
Not much information about this watch is available. Hamilton made the QED family of watches in a variety of different styles. The mens' QED watch was large and square with art deco styling. The mens' models used modules made by Time Computer and later by FrontierI. When the technology had evolved enough for ladies' models, it was no longer economical to produce LED watches in the United States so all ladies' models were made in Hong Kong. A mid sized ladies' model was first introduced followed by this ultra small ladies' model.
