Pulsar P4 Executive (Gold-Filled)
The curviest, most futuristic Pulsar
Description:
The Pulsar P4 Executive is sometimes justifiably described as the most beautiful digital watch ever made due to its simple, clean lines, its curves, and its matching bracelet. The Executive was one of the three styles of "auto-command" wrist-flick activated P4 models made by Pulsar with the other two styles being referred to as the "Big Time" and the "Classic".

The Pulsar P4 Executive was made in stainless steel, 14KT gold fill and both 14KT and 18KT solid gold by special order. The gold allow used in this model is quite beautiful and unique due to its slight rosy color.
These models had the "auto-command" feature, an innovative mercury switch that allows you to activate the LED display simply by quickly rotating your wrist in a flicking motion. The watch is only sensitive to motion along the axis of your arm in order to make it less prone to activating inadvertantly. A few other models of watches such as the Gillette "Reflex" also featured mercury switch activation, but these were activated by orientation rather than a quick back and forth rotary motion and therefore were not nearly so useful or refined as the Pulsar solution.
This particular model also has the "auto-set" feature, which allows you to set the time and date by pressing the buttons three times quickly instead of requiring the use of a magnet.
Condition:
Case: Very good.
As you can see from the photos the case is in very good condition with an almost perfect front bezel. There is one small mark on the right side / edge of the case which is only visible when viewing from the side. There are a few small marks on the back that are invisible when the watch is worn. The case back is in excellent condition.
Face / Hands: Excellent.
All LED digits and segments are complete and extremely bright.
Crystal: Very good.
The red mineral glass crystal is in very good to excellent condition. There are just a few very tiny marks which are only visible in bright light.
Band / Bracelet: Good.
This Pulsar bracelet is in good to very good condition. If you look closely, there are a few links with visible scratches and there are three links that have tiny indentations. It has 14 links and will fit a large size 8" wrist. The bracelet clasp has a few scratches and shows a date stamp of 10/75. The clasp contains the original setting magnet and holder.
Function / Accuracy: Ok.
This watch keeps excellent time and the time function works perfecly. The wrist-flick function, however, does not work. Also, the date works fine, but only certain months are able to be set. For some strange reason, the module skips over some months of the year. Also, date setting is a little fickle because the magnet is just strong enough to activate the switches. You may want to use an alternate magnet, such as a refrigerator magnet. So, the time works great and the date works fine once you get it set, but the month display is flaky and setting the watch requires a bit of extra patience. If you decide that you want the month display and the wrist-flick function at some future date, you can have your module repaired by Strikes and Spares (www.strikesandspares.com).
