Bulova Black and Red Accutron 218D
A Nice Black Face Accutron with red accents
Description:
This is a nice 1970 Accutron with a black face and red accents. Accutrons ceased production in 1977 because quartz watches could be made more inexpensively and more accurately. Although the early Accutrons tend to be more coveted by collectors, the late model Accutrons have that great 70s style, of which this is a perfect example. The tiny red tick marks and shiny chrome hands stand out nicely against the black face. Note the tiny subseconds tick marks around the periphery of the dial. The red on the face matches the band nicely even though the band is not original..
Condition:
Case: Very good.
The watch case
is in very good condition with only a few tiny marks. The case back has been polished to a mirror shine rather than showing its original finish.
Face / Hands: Excellent.
The dial and hands are essentially perfect with no deterioration or discoloration of the black background or the tiny little red tick marks around the perimeter. The hands are perfect and still very shiny.
Crystal: Excellent.
The acrylic crystal has no visible scuffs or scratches.
Band / Bracelet: Good.
The leather band shows some wear is not original and has a gold buckle rather than a silver one, which would match the watch better.
Function / Accuracy: Excellent.
This watch sets and runs perfectly and keeps Accutron-quality time.
